The two-piece SNAPLOC® fastening system consists of a ball stud and a coupling for quick assembly and is based on the principle of a simple snap joint or plug-in joint.

Method and principle

Two-piece design, for easy assembly.

One ball stud, one coupling – the simple principle behind the SNAPLOC® plug-in connection provides a perfect fit while decoupling any vibration. Inside the coupling a ball socket is formed, into which the ball stud can snap.

The coupling of the plug‑in connection is mounted on the underside of the component in the fitting provided and held in place with a form-fit. Depending on the design, the ball stud can be screwed, bonded or clipped onto the corresponding component. The pieces are connected easily by simply snapping them into place or pulling them apart.

SNAPLOC® product types

  • SNAPLOC® Studs with external thread

    The metal external threads of the ball studs are metric or self‑tapping (in plastic). Other thread types can be provided on request.

  • SNAPLOC® Ball studs with internal thread

    The metal internal threads of the ball studs are usually metric. Other thread types can be provided on request.

  • SNAPLOC® Ball studs with K’ in K’ thread

    With its specially developed thread profiles, the plastic in plastic (K’ in K’) function makes self-tapping screw joints possible.

    Working principle

    The key aspect of our K’ in K’ principle is the patented thread geometry. The K’ in K’ thread forms or cuts a holding thread into a cylindrical drill-hole. The special shape of the K’ in K’ prevents the screw from coming loose. Combined with the receiving component, it creates a self‑locking device.

  • SNAPLOC® Ball studs in clip form

    The specific shape of the parts enables these ball studs to be mounted by simply clipping them into an opening.

  • SNAPLOC® Ball studs for in-moulding

    For cost‑effective production, especially in the case of low‑strength materials, we offer ball studs that can be inserted into injection moulding tools and in‑moulded.

  • SNAPLOC® Couplings for mounting domes

    The couplings for mounting domes are designed in such a way that they can be inserted either fully automatically or manually into the corresponding locating holes. No additional tools required.

    Couplings with a collar

    Couplings with a collar are designed primarily for fastening in mounting domes but can also be fastened in plates. Due to the geometry of the part, an open bore is preferable.

  • SNAPLOC® Couplings for plate fastenings

    These couplings can be mounted simply by pushing them into a specified bore or square opening.

    We supply an installation tool for easier assembly.

  • SNAPLOC® Angular couplings

    To compensate for angular differences, we offer angular couplings.

    Working principle

    When the fastener is not being inserted at a right angle to the surface, it is possible to compensate for the the angular difference. In order to do so, angular couplings and couplings for plate fastenings are mounted in the sheet material. This makes assembly in the insertion direction possible again.
