Self-pierce riveting systems for perfect joints

RIVSET® Automation

RIVSET® self-pierce riveting systems

High-strength and reliable joining of materials

It makes mechanically strong joints of similar or combined material types. Multilayer joints are also possible.

Plus factors

Advantages RIVSET® self-pierce riveting systems

  • Cold joining

There is no heat input into the joining zone, therefore there is no risk of distortion in the component.

  • Customer-specific solutions

RIVSET® self-pierce riveting systems can be flexibly adapted to meet your requirements.

  • Easy integration

RIVSET® self-pierce riveting systems are easy to integrate into existing production lines.

Method and principle

RIVSET® configuration

The product range of RIVSET® self-pierce riveting systems includes manual systems and systems for fully automatic production. Our systems are designed for a wide variety of applications and can be adapted to specific manufacturing environments. Configuration of the various system components – power unit, feed, tool, panel and visualization – is highly flexible. Your application determines the system.

Optional modules

Modules for RIVSET® Automation

  • Die changer

    • Receptacles for up to eight dies
    • Die change approx. 6.0 s
    • Die identification via receptacle position
    • Assignment of die ID for each joining point
    • Die locking in the die receptacle of the setting tool
    • Optional die identification via die shank coding with camera sensor
  • Magazine feed

    • Consists of a loading station and magazine holder on the setting tool
    • Up to eight different rivet lengths can be processed in one magazine
    • Capacity of max. 49 rivets per magazine
    • Fast magazine change – approx. 4.0 s
  • New C-frame generation

    • The process of designing self-pierce rivet setting tools, whether for new versions or changes, is drastically shortened.
    • The new C-frame offers average weight reduction of 20% and thus contributes to a compact design.
    • Nearly parallel opening of the C-frame supports improved connectivity quality.
    • You can configure the rivet setting tools by yourself.

Automation solutions

  • ready2_rivet

Böllhoff and KUKA simply redefine automation of self-pierce riveting processes.

As an expert in mechanical joining technology, we developed the ready2_rivet package in collaboration with KUKA, one of the leading providers of intelligent automation solutions.
Harmonised, pre-configured systems that can be deployed quickly and are easy to operate – this is the result of our cooperation.

    • Operation/parameterisation via a control unit for easy handling
    • Robot control/process control in a cabinet to reduce your hardware and the system’s footprint
    • Partially integrated power supply for improved accessibility
    • Predefined configurations for easier commissioning
    • Fast, pre-programmed commissioning with three measuring points allows easier changes of:
      • Tool
      • Magazine
      • Dies
    • Troubleshooting and quality assurance with “process done” monitoring during operation
