We think long-term

As a family-run company in its fourth generation, we take the long view. A sustainable orientation and responsible behaviour have long been key components of our corporate values.  

That is why sustainability is not a new challenge for us, but a proven compass on the way to a future worth living - for all generations to come. A bold strategy with clear aspirations helps us to steer in the right direction day after day.

THREE DIMENSIONS OF OUR STRATEGY

Our fields of action, topics and goals

In the strategy development process, the Böllhoff Group defined three dimensions or fields of action for the sustainability strategy. In turn, all fields of action focus on key topics and objectives. This ensures that we stay on course with our sustainability activities at all times.

  • Planet

    On the one hand, the Planet field of action focuses on our products and services, which enable lightweight construction, downsizing of components and material savings, for example. On the other hand, it is also about developing measures to ensure that our products can be manufactured more sustainably. In terms of content, these range from the use of renewable energies to the optimization of processes in order to minimize waste.

    Our key topics and objectives 

    Innovative products and processes: 

    • Developing sustainable and optimised joining solutions for future-oriented industries and sectors, such as electric mobility and renewable energy.
    • Implement life cycle assessments (LCA) to evaluate the environmental impacts of our own products.
    • Increase product transparency throughout the entire life cycle.
    • Increase the proportion of recycled materials in our products and improve recyclability.

    Environmental and climate protection: 

    • Establish the “Avoid – Reduce – Offset” principle as a strategic framework.
    • Use the SBTi Net-Zero Standard to align and validate emissions targets.

    Energy: 

    • Continuously reduce the relative energy consumption of our processes.
    • Utilise a decentralised expert panel to identify and reduce major energy consumers.
    • Promote collaboration with partners to develop further energy efficiency solutions.

    Emissions: 

    • Prioritize emissions avoidance and reduction over offsetting.
    • Further develop comprehensive emissions reporting for all stakeholders. 

    Production and logistics: 

    • Reduce waste and increase the separate collection and recycling of production and logistics waste.
    • Increase the use of recycled materials in production wherever possible.
    • Further expand sustainability requirements in the supply chain, for example through tools such as the Code of Conduct or assessments.
  • People

    The aim of the People field of action is to strengthen the long-term well-being of our employees. We take a variety of approaches to achieve this: from further training opportunities to promote individual skills and comprehensive occupational health and safety measures to attractive additional benefits for all employees.

    Our key topics and objectives

    Education/training:

    • Positioning training as an active contribution to securing a skilled workforce, including strong regional visibility for the Bildungscampus Böllhoff in Bielefeld [Education Campus].
    • Future-oriented training design through digital learning platforms, modern learning formats, and high-tech equipment.

    Further training/professional development:

    • Systematically strengthening future-proof skills – We empower our employees to build the skills that are crucial for a changing world of work and Böllhoff’s strategic requirements through targeted learning and development opportunities.
    • Embedding learning as a natural part of work – We foster a learning culture in which continuous professional development, knowledge sharing, and personal growth are integral parts of daily work and collaboration.
