Plastic has many advantages. This is true especially when it is used in conjunction with metal, as this combines the benefits of low weight and high strength. The innovative IMTEC® moulded inserts are particularly suitable for in-moulding with thermoset and thermoplastic materials as well as CFRP composites.

Method and principle

The hybrid solution

IMTEC® offers wear-free, resilient metal threads in high-quality plastic components. Before the part is produced, the IMTEC® moulded inserts are placed into the mould manually or by means of a handling system. Then, the metal inserts are injection-moulded with plastic. The only adjustment required is to adapt the core pins of the injection mould geometrically to the IMTEC® moulded inserts.

IMTEC® product types

For the full variety of applications, we offer a selection of different thread inserts for plastics.


    The IMTEC® CO thread insert for in-moulding is an asymmetric rolled stainless steel A2 wire (A4 also available) which is mainly used for blind hole threads. It is coiled to create a fixed bushing with at least one flange-like extension. In the forming process, the thread inserts are also magnetised and can therefore be securely placed on magnetic core pins.

    IMTEC® CF with double flange is produced from steel by cold forming. The deformation area on the IMTEC® CF allows precise adjustment of the length of the thread insert according to the mould size. Upon closing, the parts of the mould compress the IMTEC® CF and precisely adjust the length of the component (L ± 0.15 mm).
