DIN and standard parts

Flat washers

We provide the right washer for each application.

Flat washers – DIN 125a.

Distribution of forces

Washers distribute the pre-tensioning force in screw connections over a larger area

In addition to simple washers, there are numerous special types (e.g. conical or with tabs). Our range also includes shim rings, sealing rings, large diameter washers and lock washers.

Method and principle

An overview of flat washers

Working principle

Distributing the pre-tensioning force over a larger area reduces the pressure exerted on the contact surfaces of the joint. This reduces deformation and creep phenomena. Washers protect sensitive surfaces from mechanical damage.

Material

In addition to steel in different hardness classes, available materials include stainless steel, plastic, aluminium and brass. Care must be taken to use washers of the appropriate hardness, particularly when using high-strength screws.

Surfaces

Our products can be coated with different surface finishes, depending on requirements and application. We will be pleased to give you individual advice on the right coating system.

We offer the following surfaces as standard:

  • Plain
  • Zinc plated (industry standard)
  • VZD (zinc plated with thick layer passivation)
  • ISO Standard Galvanized
  • Zinc-nickel
  • Zinc flake

Types of flat washers

  • Large diameter washers

Large diameter or fender washers have a very large outer diameter.
This distributes pre-tensioning force over a significantly larger area. These components are used for soft materials or large through holes.

    Standards

    • B 9022
  • Conical cups

Conical cups can be used in combination with spherical washers to compensate for angular errors between screw axes and clamping part surfaces.
When used individually, the spherical shape must be matched on the opposite side of the joint (e.g. with a collar nut).

    Standards

    • DIN 6319 D
    • DIN 6319 G
  • Spherical washers

Spherical washers can be used in combination with conical cups to compensate for angular errors between screw axes and clamping part surfaces.
When used individually, the spherical shape must be matched on the opposite side of the joint (e.g. with a cone on the fastener).

    Standards

    • DIN 6319 C
  • Shim rings

A combination of appropriately dimensioned shim rings compensates for unwanted axial play. For this purpose, shim rings are available in closely graduated thicknesses.

    Standards

    • DIN 988
  • Washers

Washers distribute forces over a larger area. This reduces the pressure exerted on the contact surfaces of a joint. At the same time, it also protects the component surface, as the relative movement between the fastener and the component only takes place in the joint between the washer and the fastener.

    Standards

    • DIN 125 A similar to ISO 7089/7090
    • DIN 125 B similar to ISO 7089/7090
    • DIN 126 similar to ISO 7091
    • DIN 1052
    • DIN 1440 similar to ISO 8738
    • DIN 1441
    • DIN 432
    • DIN 433 similar to ISO 7092
    • DIN 440 R similar to ISO 7094
    • DIN 440 V similar to ISO 7094
    • DIN 463
    • DIN 6340
    • DIN 7349
    • DIN 9021 similar to ISO 7093
  • Sealing washers

Sealing washers are pressed into holes to create a seal. They are not actually fastening components. Sealing washers are also called sealing caps.

    Standards

    • DIN 470
