Joining high-strength materials even in the combination of mixed joints, multiple-layer joints and hybrid joints allows maximum flexibility in using this technology. Another advantage is the possibility to join components without pre-punching. Upon joining, the RIVTAC® tack penetrates both components by its own force.
"In the world of mechanical joining technology, with the RIVTAC® technology, we are breaking new ground and have optimum conditions to further increase our share in the market," Dr. Torsten Draht, Project Manager Research & Development, is convinced.
For tack-setting, we have developed the RIVTAC® Portable hand tool.
In this innovative mechanical joining process, the RIVTAC® tack is accelerated to high speed and driven into the not pre-punched joining parts. The pointed tack displaces the material without forming punchings. For that, a piston installed in the RIVTAC® Portable hand tool which is accelerated by compressed air of up to 8 bar is used to drive the tack into the components to be joined.
The new hand tool is preferably used in small-series production. It is particularly easy to handle — even when workpieces are difficult to access. Depending on consistency and accessibility of the components, the optimal version can be chosen from two versions with different nose pieces. The required tacks are assembled in magazine strips.
To ensure optimal processing, a control unit or a compressed-air unit with integrated booster are available as accessories.
